In service since 1972, the OZM-72 is a Soviet/Russian anti-personnel mine typically triggered via a trip-wire. In Russian landmine nomenclature, ‘O’ indicates a fragmentation effect, ‘ZM’ denotes an ‘obstacle landmine’ and '72' indicates the year of introduction. In Soviet service it was informally known as 'The Frog' or 'The Witch'.
